Asmara Restaurant

During your Kenya safari tours visit this Asmara restaurant in Karen within Nairobi County. Eritrean food is the speciality of the restaurant Asmara. It is situated next to the Talisman restaurant and on the right side of Ngong Road, close to the Karen Dukas roundabout. The restaurant structure is easily identifiable with its white walls and red tiles outside, situated within a large Karen garden.

The menu at Asmara is rather extensive, with items like pepper steaks and pizzas. But the restaurant’s speciality is Eritrean cuisine, and they have an amazing selection of African cuisine. This are the kind of meals you will be able to choose after an amazing safari in Kenya’s Nairobi National Park or just some of the tourist safari tour attractions within Nairobi such as the Bomas of Kenya, Giraffe Centre and many others.

Try the Asmara Special if you’ve never had Eritrean food before. This recipe consists of pan-fried beef fillet strips cooked with tomato, berbere powder, and green pepper. It comes with veggies and a classic beef soup. A mixture of Ethiopian and Eritrean spices, such as korarima, ginger, garlic, and chilli peppers, is known as berbere powder. At Sh1,600, the Asmara Special is priced.

Try the Asmara Mixed Plate for a dish that is ideal for sharing. This dish, which consists of three servings of beef paired with various veggies, provides you “a taste of everything.” At Sh1,400, the Asmara Mixed Plate is priced.

The Asmara menu has plenty of vegetarian alternatives for you to choose from. A mixture of cabbage, kale, potatoes, peas, lentils, and beetroot are served with a hot Eritrean sauce in the Asmara vegetable dish. The price is Ksh 900.

Savoury fish fingers, kiddie beef or veggie burgers, delicious Asmara chicken, and more are available at the Asmara Kids Corner if you are dining with children. The outdoor playground, which has slide sets, swings, tubes, and a tunnel, is a lot of fun.

Langata Botanical Gardens

About 20 miles from Nairobi’s central business district and less than 20 minutes from the Karen Shopping Centre lies the breathtaking Langata Botanical Gardens. Here, the beauty and tranquilly will make you fall in love. The therapeutic aura of Langata Botanical Gardens makes it the perfect place for celebration, inspiration, leisure, and relaxation. Numerous native trees, expansive, lovely lawns, and a lagoon teeming with a diverse array of fish may all be found there. With plenty of seclusion provided by the surrounding bandas and the natural vegetation, you can enjoy some quality time with your significant other while unwinding in the great outdoors.

Oloolua Nature Trail

Nestled inside 250 hectares of native tropical dry Oloolua forest, the Oloolua Nature Trail serves as the home of the Institute of Primate Research (IPR) and is located in the affluent neighbourhood of Karen. The National Museums of Kenya, the organisation that founded this biomedical research facility, created the 5-kilometer Oloolua Nature Trail in the middle of this forest, offering a peaceful haven for city dwellers who want to get away from the bustle of the city.

Oloolua Nature Trail visitors love coming here for leisurely picnics in the peaceful surroundings, jogging along the trail, walking their pets, and short walks. Groups with structure are not abandoned.

The Oloolua Nature Trail is a favourite among visitors who come to take leisurely strolls, jog along the path, walk their dogs, or just enjoy a picnic in the peaceful surroundings. Groups that are organised are not abandoned. Typically, they come on guided forest trips to learn about environmental conservation. Under enormous native trees and shrubs, the Oloolua nature route meanders through thickets of forest vines and undergrowth, at times tracing the path of the Mbagathi River that flows through the forest. Massive bamboo stands along the riverfront invite people to walk down the rickety stairs to the river and relax on chairs positioned beneath the bamboo. When you’re sleeping, the only sounds you hear are trickling water and chirping birds, which help you get meditative.

Intimate settings for couples or groups to unwind, play, or have a meal in the woods are provided by a picnic area complete with benches, drop toilets, and trash cans. If you plan to stay in the forest for longer than a day, there’s a safe campsite accessible with firewood, tap water, and drop toilets. But you have to carry food, cooking utensils, and your tent.

A 20-foot waterfall next to the forest’s entrance is the final, and maybe most stunning, of the attraction’s features. You’ll pass a wooden tower that was constructed many years ago to observe a nearby Crowned Eagle nest as you make your approach to the waterfall. Scientists studied the behaviour of the Crowned Eagle in its native habitat using this tower. Unfortunately, the birds have left this sanctuary due to migratory patterns brought on by nearby urbanisation and human activity. A further insight into the rich variety of this native woodland can be found downstream in a papyrus swamp. From this point on, the trail climbs out of the river valley, occasionally emerging into sunny glades before disappearing once more beneath the cold forest cover.

Mamba Village

The gigantic Nile crocodile resides at “Mamba Village Crocodile Farm,” which is appropriately named given its reputation for having crocodiles. Mamba Village, which is accessible via the Langata-Karen road, is a great  family friendly safari destination to spend an afternoon with your family and kids. Even though they might give you and most other adults the creeps, the kids will love seeing crocodiles.

But fear not—a man-made lake in the centre of the park provides a very tranquil view to ease your tension. There is an entrance fee to enter the park. Once inside, reasonably priced additional services like food and entertainment  there are also boat rides safaris being provided.

Sunday is the ideal day to visit the crocodile farm in Nairobi. Kenya safari tour visitors are only permitted to watch the crocodiles being fed at 4:00 pm on this particular day.  You can explore the village on your own leisure or, if you’d like, engage a tour guide to show you around.

Stedmak Gardens

Stedmak Gardens is situated amid Karen’s opulent Nairobi estate. We heartily recommend Stedmak Animal Park if your children have a fascination with animals. When your children or teenagers scream out and the African grey parrot, Kasuku, responds, they will both go crazy! When your kids see their favourite Lion Guard animals—lions, hyenas, gazelles, ostriches, snakes, tortoises, and a variety of bird species—in the park, they will be ecstatic.
