Detailed itinerary of the safari
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Akagera national park
The 1st day of the safari is for arrival in Rwanda and transfer to Akagera national park, upon your arrival in Rwanda’s Kigali using Kigali international airport you will be picked up by your safari driver a representative of Focus East Africa Tours. From the airport you will embark on a 2-3 hours’ drive to Akagera national park, when you arrival you will check into your lodge and in the afternoon you will go for an afternoon boat trip on Lake Ihema. Boat trips in Akagera national park offer great views of animals, many animals come to the lake to drink water and while cruising on the waters of the lake you will spot many animals such as hippos, crocodiles and many other animals. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: full day game drive
The 2nd day of the 3 days Akagera national park safari is for spending a full day of touring Akagera national park on a game drive, after morning breakfast you will head to the park for a game drive. The game drive in Akagera national park offer excellent Rwanda game viewing safari and done in a 4X4 safari vehicle with open widows and popup roof. While on the game drive look out for sights of big mammals such as elephants, rhinos, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, topi, impalas and many more. Game drive experience also offers views of the scenic landscape and over 500 bird species such as papyrus Gonolek, black headed ganolex, the lilac breasted roller, the Heuglin’s roin chat, the ross’s turaco , the created barbet, swamp flycatcher, as well as the red faced barbet and many more.
At lunch you will drive back to your lodge for your meals and in the afternoon you will return for another game drive experiences, in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: return to Kigali
The 3rd day of the 3 days Akagera national park safari is for transferring back to Kigali, after a relaxed and delicious breakfast at your lodge, you will checkout and embark on a 2-3 hours’ drive back to Kigali as you say good bye to Akagera national park with an en-route game drive. When you arrive in Kigali you will be dropped off either at your residential hotel or at Kigali international airport for your departure flight back home.
