House of Waine is a luxury boutique Hotel offering a cool retreat from the bustle of the Kenyan capital “Nairobi”, this boutique Hotel is located o the former coffee plantation of Karen Blixen about 5 minutes from the Karen Blixen Museum and 3.5 kilometers from Nairobi Giraffe Centre. House of Waine sits on 2.5 acres that blends with the elegance of gracious living with the spirit of modern Africa in an exclusive and Serene setting.
Style and Character of House of Waine
House of Waine is a colonial style villa with two wings, the hotel is owned and run by Waine family (Waine is an acronym comprising the initials of family members’ names). The hotel was built in 1978 as a private home, then renovated and opened as a hotel in 2004 but it still retains the atmosphere of a private home from the Out of Africa Era of the 1920s.
House of Waine features a large outdoor pool which is heated, a lounge scattered with coffee tables and sofas and immaculate gardens perfect for strolling in the long evening.

Victoria room at House of Waine is a quaint room and the only room with a working fireplace, this room is a reminiscent of the Victoria Era. The main feature of the Victoria room is the wrought iron four poster bed and elegant claw foot tub.
Tembo
Tembo room at the hotel is named after a Swahili slag “Tembo” meaning elephant, as it said an elephant never forgets, a stay in Tembo room will be an unforgettable experience. Tembo room features different hues and textures reflecting of the elephant hide and the natural habitat of elephants.
Ziwa
Ziwa room is named from a Swahili word for Lake, the room features abundance of turquoise reflecting a shimmering lake
Safari
Safari room at House of Waine is named from Arabic word “safa” meaning a long journey in Swahili, this word was first used in the English language by Sir Richard Burton, a famous explorer. This room features décor that pays tribute to the past and present of explorers.
Manyatta
Manyatta room is a home to a portrait of a Maasai moran (warrior) painted by a local artist, Philipa Marrion. This room is in a resemblance of a Maasai Manyatta (circular hut)
