This 10 Days Great Migration Safari offers an incredible experience of the true African wildlife as it unveils in Serengeti National Park. The Great Migration also known as Wildebeest Migration is the second largest overland migration in the world, with wildlife traveling a total of 800km or more during each cycle. Over 1.5 million wildebeests as well as zebras and Grant’s and Thomson gazelles cross Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve in search of good grazing.
Additionally, you will also visit and explore Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Tarangire National Park with are home to abundant wildlife including the Big 5 – lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, rhinos and elephants.

Detailed Itinerary of 10 Days Great Migration Safari
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at your lodge in Arusha, meet your guide and set off from Arusha and make your way to Tarangire National Park which is 2 hours away. When you arrive in the park, you will go on a game drive giving a perfect introduction to this iconic Tanzania safari destination renowned for its iconic baobab trees and large herds of elephants.
You will enjoy picnic lunch and continue exploring the park till evening, head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Karatu
After breakfast, you will drive towards Karatu, stopping en route at Mto wa Mbu, a culturally vibrant town for a market visit.
The Karatu area gives you the opportunity to experience a variety of different activities with options of biking or hiking. Continue to your lodge close the Ngorongoro Crater rim for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater to Central Serengeti
In the morning after an early breakfast you will be one of the first vehicles descending the six hundred meters into Ngorongoro Crater superb game viewing with picnic lunch boxes. The Ngorongoro Crater is a natural enclosure supporting over 30,000 animals at any one time making it virtually a Noah’s ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa.
The Ngorongoro Crater is considered one of the natural wonders of the world and has the highest densities of predators in Africa such as lions, hyenas and leopards. Also, it is one of the best places in Africa to see the endangered black rhinos. In the afternoon, ascend out of the crater and head toward Central Serengeti, check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4-5: Central Serengeti
You will spend two full days in the Central Serengeti, famous for its terrific cat sightings. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name “Serengeti” means “endless plains” in the local Maa language. The Serengeti together with Masai Mara National Reserve form the oldest ecosystem on planet and host to the Great Migration, the largest migration of land mammal on the planet.

In addition to witnessing the Great Migration involving over two million wildebeests and thousands of gazelles and zebras, you will see other animals including large prides of lions, elephants and giraffes in the savannah grasslands among others
Overnight at Nyikani Central Camp

Day 6-9: Northern Serengeti
Journey to Northern Serengeti by the Mara River where the grass is rich in nutrients and capable of offering the migratory herds a proper supply of food and water. This is the time and place to witness the famous Mara River crossing. See giant Nile crocodiles basking in the sun, waiting patiently in the water for the big migration to enter the area. You will have opportunities to catch thrilling game action or perhaps even witness a river crossing, as the wildebeests and zebras face one of the most difficult part of their migration journey and cross over to Masai Mara. Spend four days exploring this rewarding region.

Day 10: Northern Serengeti to Arusha & Departure
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, head out early for a short morning game drive before traveling back to Arusha where you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
