Entrance Fees for Maasai Mara National Reserve: Park Entry fees are fees paid to any protected area before one accesses it in order to get attracted to the activities done in a place. Just like other protected areas do all over the world. One to be able to access Masai Mara national park it needs you to pay entrance fees.
Note that the money paid as entrance fees supports the conservation programs stipulated by the governing body of all Kenya national parks, famously known as the Kenya Wildlife Service.
Park Rules:
Before accessing Masai Mara national park you are required to present in a valid identification in order to determine your status that is to Foreigners, Foreign resident and East African citizens.
The foreigner resident of Kenya is required to present a valid working permit for at least 2 to 1year.
Foreigners are expected to present their valid passports for verification.
The East African members are required to present their national identification card or passport in order to get entrance permits to Maasai Mara national park. Like East African citizens of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
The park entrance fees are paid per person per day “24 hours” and are paid separately from the activity charges.
Park entrance fees to Maasai Mara are based on the location of the lodge and camp at which one is staying. Then, accommodation is located inside the main Reserve, the entry fee for adults is USD 70 within 24 hours per head and for children under 12 years of age, it is USD 40 per child.
Accommodation outside the main National Reserve, the entry fees increased to USD 80 per adult in 24 hours and per child within 24 hours, it is USD 45.
How to pay Maasai Mara entry fees.
Park entrance fees for Maasai Mara are paid in cash in US dollars or Kenya Shillings money.
Child fees are applicable to persons 3 to 11 years old and persons under 3 years are free.
The student’s fees are only applicable for persons aged up to 23 years of age who must be sponsored by a recognized higher learning institution. They must have valid student identification on their organized trip to the reserve.
NB: Students must be allowed to use these special rates at least two weeks in advance of their visit.
Individual Entrance fees for Nonresidents.
Foreigner nonresident Adult inside the park is entitled to pay US$ 70 as a single-day park entry fee to the Masai Mara national Reserve.
The nonresident Adult outside the park is entitled to pay US$ 80 for park entry fees.
The nonresident children inside the park are entitled to US$40 as single-day park entry fees.
The nonresident Children outside the park expect to pay US$45 as a day park entry.
The nonresident adult student is entitled to a US$40 single entry fee to Masai Mara national reserve.
The non-resident student children are entitled to pay US$20 as entry fees to Masai Mara.
EAST AFRICAN CITIZEN “Ksh”
East African adult citizens are expected to pay Ksh 1000, Ksh 200 for children who are East African citizens, and Ksh 200 for students who are citizens, and this is the entry fee paid to Masai Mara national park.
EAST AFRICAN RESIDENTS ‘’ Ksh
The East African resident adult is entitled to Ksh 1,200 as a single-day park entry fee to Masai Mara national park.
The East African resident children are entitled to pay Ksh 300 as park entry fees.
The Resident student entitled to pay Ksh 300 as single day park entry fees.
The park entry fee to Masai Mara national reserve is not only applicable to humans but also to Vehicle and aircraft charges as follows:
Masai Mara safari vehicle entry fees “24 hours”
Vehicles with 5 seats or less are charged Ksh. 400 as park entry fees.
Vehicles with 6 seats but less than 12 are charged Ksh. 1,000 for Masai Mara national reserve entry fees.
Vehicles with 34 seats but less than 24 are charged Ksh 3,000 for park entry fees.
Vehicles with 25 seats but less than 44 are entitled to pay Ksh 4,000 for park entry fees.
Vehicles with 45 seats and above are charged Ksh 5,000 to be able to access Masai Mara national reserve.

Motor Engines—Truck Charge per Visit.
Trucks with 1 to 3 tons are charged Ksh 700 per day for park entry fees.
Trucks with 4 to 7 tons are charged Ksh 2,500 per visit for park entry fees.
Trucks with 8 tons and above are expected to pay Ksh 3,500 per visit for park entry fees.
Air craft fee –Single Landing.
The landing charges are paid at the office of KAPS in Nairobi with a check made payable to Mara Conservation.
Aircraft with less than 3 seats are charged Ksh 300 as a single Landing fee to Masai Mara national reserve.
Aircraft with 3 seats but less than 6 seats are charged Ksh 500 as a single landing fee to the park.
Aircraft with 7 seats but less than 14 seats are charged Ksh 1000 as a single landing fee to Masai Mara.
Aircraft with 15 seats but less than 20 seats are charged Ksh 2000 as a park landing fee per day.
Aircraft with 21 seats and above are charged Ksh3000 for the park landing fee per day.
Other Fees Categorized as
Balloon Air Service
The Operating permit for balloon service is entitled to pay Ksh 100,000 per day for park landing fees.
The Landing fee per person per landing in balloon air is US$ 50 for Non foreigner and foreign residents
Cinematography Activities.
A group of 1-5 persons per week is charged Ksh 30,000 for park entry fees.
6-20 persons per week are charged Ksh 50,000 to access the park promises or activities.
Over 20 persons per week are entitled to pay Ksh 100,000 in order to access the park’s activity.
The Horse riding fee per horse per day is Ksh 1,500 only.
Camping fees.
The Campsite reservation fee per week is Ksh 10,000 as a weekly park entry fee to Masai Mara national reserve.
The special Campsite fee on reserved sites is also charged Ksh 10,000 as a weekly entrance fee to Masai Mara national reserve.
The private conservancies are entitled to pay US$80 for the park entry fee to the Masai Mara national reserve.
Ranger Fees /Activities.
Campers are recommended to hire two rangers for nighttime security.
Game drive done for more than 6 hours, entitled to pay Ksh 3,000 per activity.
Game drive done below 6 hours is entitled to pay Ksh 1,500 per activity.
Full Night Camp security is charged Ksh 4,000 per activity.
Annual Research permits
Annual research permits for nonresidents are entitled USD400 as annual entry permits to Mara.
