Samburu national reserve Entry Fees and Park Rules 2022 : Samburu national reserve is one of the most famous safari destinations in East Africa and Kenya located in Northern Kenya, this premier game reserve is situated on the banks of Ewaso Ng’iro river running along the southern border of the reserve. The river also seperates Samburu national reserve from the Buffalo Springs national reserve.
Samburu national reserve covers an area of 165 square kilometers, the reserve hosts abundance of rare species of animals such as Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenul and Beisa Oryx. The reserve is also a home to over 900 elephants, large predators such as lion, leopard, cheetahs and over 450 recorded species.

- Kenyan Citizens
Kenyan Citizens are tourists who are residents and citizens of Kenya, for one to be classified as a Kenyan citizen has to be in possession of a valid Kenya national ID. The category of Kenyan Citizens also includes citizens of East Africa Community countries that is Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
- Residents
Residents are tourists who reside in Kenya but they are not citizens of Kenya, one to be categorized as a Kenya resident has to be in possession of valid documentation issued by the Kenyan government.
- Non – Residents
Non- residents are tourists who do not reside in Kenya or citizens of Kenya and East African community countries, Non – residents are international tourists on a Kenya safari.
CATEGORIES OF RATES AT SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
- Resident rates
Resident rates are applicable to tourists who reside in Kenya and have working permits or resident permits issued by the government of Kenya.
Note: resident visitors with no valid resident or working permits will be required to pay Non – resident rates.
- Citizen rates
Citizen rates are applicable to all tourists who are citizens of Kenya and East Africa Countries that is Uganda, Burundi and Sudan. Citizen of Kenya and East Africa countries are required to present their National IDs or passports of their respective countries.
Note: East African Community citizens with no national IDs or passports will be required to pay Non – resident rates.
- Child rates
Child rates are applicable to visitors aged between 3 to 11 years old, children below the age of 3 are free of charge.
- Student rates
Student rates are applicable to individuals from a recognized learning institution and on a sponsored trip organized by the learning organization for learning and research purposes. Students must be aged up to 23 years and must obtain a clearance for student rates from the ticketing office.
HOW TO PAY (MODE OF PAYMENT) OF SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE FEES
Park fees to Samburu national reserve are paid in cash, currencies of Ksh and USD Dollars are accepted. Also cashless payments are accepted.
Cashless modes of payments such as Visa, MasterCard, Mpesa phone payments are accepted.
Note: when paying Samburu park fees
- Citizens and residents – should carry valid identification and proof of eligible
- Non – residents – should carry valid passports

- Samburu national reserve entry fees are applicable to 2022 and they are subject to change
- Park fee to Samburu national reserve are paid at Archer’s Gate which is the main gate to the reserve.
- Inside Samburu national reserve there are several safari lodges and tented camps and these include Sasaab Lodge, Elephant Watch Camp, Samburu Game Lodge, Samburu Intrepids Luxury Tented Camp, Saruni Samburu Lodge, Larsens Camp, Lion King Safari Bush Camp, and Samburu Riverside Tented Camp.
